As 2026 begins, we want to start the year with 21 days set apart to seek God with all our hearts in prayer and with fasting.

Biblical fasting is the act of abstaining from food—or other distractions—for spiritual purposes, as encouraged by Jesus. A meaningful fast is always paired with prayer, Scripture, and worship, helping us draw closer to God. When done with humility and sincerity, fasting positions us for spiritual growth and deeper intimacy with Him.

Fasting is a spiritual practice that helps realign our hearts with God and deepen our dependence on Him. Throughout Scripture, fasting was used to strengthen prayer, seek God’s guidance, grow in obedience, resist temptation, and walk in unity with others. Ultimately, fasting isn’t about what we give up—it’s about making room to experience God’s presence in a deeper way.
Fasting requires thoughtful preparation and wise precautions to ensure a safe and meaningful experience. Before fasting, consult your physician if you have health concerns or take medication. Preparing your body, moderating activity, prioritizing rest, and understanding potential discomfort will help you stay focused on prayer and seeking the Lord throughout your fast.
As you humble yourself before the Lord through prayer, repentance, and time in His Word, you can expect a deeper awareness of His presence and fresh spiritual insight. Fasting brings renewal, strengthens faith, and aligns our hearts with God’s will—but it’s a discipline that grows over time. God honors faithfulness, and as you seek Him consistently, He desires to meet you there.
Staying engaged during a fast requires intention and grace. Clarify your purpose, set clear commitments, and invite accountability to help you stay focused. Stay spiritually attentive through prayer and the Holy Spirit’s leading, and if you stumble, don’t quit—God honors faithfulness and perseverance.
Each week, you’ll receive a Sunday morning email with the prayer focus, with printed copies also available at the Connection Center. Join us for daily Morning Prayer at 5:00 AM via Microsoft Teams, led by our staff in a live, interactive environment where we pray in unity. To steward this time well, prayers are kept to 1–2 minutes and remain aligned with the current prayer focus.
